Things to do in Carqueiranne

Things to see and do

  • The calanques and beaches of Carqueiranne, including the Pouverel beach and the Gardiole calanque, offer crystal-clear waters among the clearest in the Var in a preserved natural setting. The rocky coast and its seabeds rich in Mediterranean marine life make it a highly valued diving and snorkelling site.
  • The Giens peninsula, 10 km away, is a unique geographical curiosity formed by a double tombolo linking the peninsula to the mainland. Its salt marshes, flamingo lagoon, Madrague beaches and coastal paths make it one of the most remarkable natural sites in the Var.
  • The Hyères islands, accessible by boat from Hyères or the Giens peninsula, form an exceptional archipelago classified as the Port-Cros national park. Porquerolles with its white sand beaches and forest, and Port-Cros, the first marine reserve in the Mediterranean, are Mediterranean jewels less than 30 minutes away by ferry.
  • Hyères, 5 km away, is the southernmost city in mainland France with its hilltop medieval old town, its Almanarre and Ayguade beaches, its Pesquier bird park and the Domaine du Rayol. Its lively historic centre and Provençal markets make it an unmissable stop.
  • The coastal path hike, which follows the entire coastline from Carqueiranne towards Le Pradet and La Seyne, allows the discovery on foot of calanques, cliffs and exceptional panoramas over the Hyères islands and the Giens peninsula in an intact Mediterranean natural setting.
